Happy National Poetry Month! Christopher Fry, the British playwright, once said that poetry “is the language by which man explores his own amazement.”
I think this photo/poem is amazing, and I write more about amazement today over at BOOKS AROUND THE TABLE.
Just look at that frozen whistle. Hope you enjoy it.

Amazing photo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool photo. Never seen anything like it. Thanks for posting the "frozen whistle". -Ed
ReplyDeleteI love wordless poems captured through amazing photographs such as this one. Loved the image! :)
ReplyDeletemakes me wonder if birds or other animals blow out their breath in cold weather just to see it the way people do.
ReplyDeleteDavid, I'm absolutely sure they do. All work and no play makes birds dull, too.
ReplyDeleteThis is like stop-motion poetry!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, and that wonderful article over at BOOKS AROUND THE TABLE.
Let's all vow to never cease to be amazed. :)
Breathtaking - really. David's comment cracks me up, and reminds me of the recent video going around of a crow "sledding" - just for fun. Absolutely. Thanks for sharing this, Julie!
ReplyDeleteI'm speechless. Wordless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a visual poem!
Wow...just, wow. It looks real and yet unreal at the very same time...
ReplyDeleteYes, real and unreal - exactly!
ReplyDeleteRobyn, I've got to find the sledding crow. Haven't seen it yet.
If someone had given an assignment to "Illustrate a frozen whistle," I wonder what the artists would've created. Your phrase goes perfectly with this image!
