Poetry Friday: A Primrose

Bought my first primroses of the season, always an uplifting thing to do as Seattle's gray February plays itself out. Three will go in a pot outside the front door, one was brought in to grace the dining room table. So I'll share my short poem, in honor of the occasion:

Everyone knows
a primrose
means one thing:
Spring!

Here's wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day in advance - and a Happy Spring, which (as this primrose proves) is just around the corner.

The Poetry Friday Round-Up is being hosted today by Kimberley Moran over at Written Reflections. Head over there to see what other people have posted.

  1. Spring sure doesn't feel around the corner here in the Chicago area, so I appreciate this lovely reminder. Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!

  2. After a big snow last week, we've had fifties and sixties wether, & continuing on. That snow is nearly gone, but March can bring more winter, so I won't be looking for the primroses yet. Our first sign is when the forsythia yellow breaks out, Julie. I'm happy you shared your lovely words about primroses, though. Happy Valentine's Day!

  4. I'm glad you're having spring--don't ask what the temps will be in NH this weekend! Fairbanks AK will be 16 degrees higher than we'll be tomorrow night!

  6. Cold here in Ohio, too (dangerous windchill alerts), but days are lengthening, and hope is reawakening. Spring WILL come!

  7. It's been in the 60's in Denver this week, after a foot of snow last week. I'm dreaming of daffodils!
